The McCanns at no time had any intention of returning to Portugal for a reconstruction, the simple fact is, they could not because their version of what happened on the night of May 3rd, is pure fabrication as Paulo Sargento explains here in this video.

AND a reconstruction would have proved that as fact, PLUS he had reinterviewed all Ocean Club staff members. In the secret files still held by the PJ are statements that the McCanns NEED to get their hands on, statements that confirm one of the group was missing each evening from the table as Fiona Payne confirmed in her rogatory.
Kate and Gerry McCann may refuse to take part in a reconstruction of events surrounding their daughter Madeleine’s disappearance, such is their anger at the information leaked in Portugal this week.
They believe the release of confidential police interviews was timed to overshadow their visit to Brussels to raise the issue of child protection.
Mr and Mrs McCann have met advisers to discuss their position.
"They are furious," said a friend.
Their spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said: "It's a blatant attempt to question their suitability as parents.
"We're not happy — the gloves are off now."
They disclosed that hours before Madeleine went missing from the family’s Algarve holiday apartment on May 3 last year, she had asked her mother:
"Why didn't you come when we were crying last night?"
